Grove Park to Crystal Palace

Length of walk
including to / from start / finish:

8.2 miles.  Mainly flat terrain except Crystal Palace Hill at end.  50% woodland, mainly tarmac paths, a bit of mud.

Attractions

Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and park at end of walk.  People are free to visit and to make their own way back from nearby station.

Attraction to be visited together

Walk along “Railway Children Walk” near to where E Nesbitt (author) lived.


Beckenham Place House (not open) and Park.

Outbound:


09:00 from Bracknell – Waterloo (9:03 Martins Heron, 9:08 Ascot, 8:54 Wokingham) arrive 10:07.


10:37 Waterloo East (platform 3) to Grove Park, arrive 10:56.


Return:


Crystal Palace to Clapham Junction (trains every 15 mins), then to Bracknell.  On the way to Crystal Palace Station, don’t enter the dinosaur park!


Travel Card needed: £16:35 with “group of four discount” or Senior Rail Card


Please arrive at Bracknell station by 8:40 if you are looking to join a group of four to travel with.  The group must stay together for all train journeys!

Under the clock at Waterloo.

Advised to use the free toilets at Waterloo before we meet under clock to walk to Waterloo East.
